Skills are anything a fixer might search for. That could be the instrument that you play, your voice type, or another skillset, such as sight-reading or improvising. You can also include skills like having your own PA system, or car.

By choosing from a dropdown list of skills. You can choose up to 10 skills. You can also describe your skills in more depth in your biog.

Your biog can contain information about your professional work history and more detail about your specific skills and experience. You can also upload some additional publicity photos and a link to your website if you choose.

Specify a town or village and set the size of the area around this location. You can choose up to 8 areas if you are on a FORTE membership and 4 if on a PIANO membership.

You might choose where you live, a town where you often work, or somewhere that a family member or friend lives. Anywhere that you’d prefer to work!

Essentially, yes. However if there is no-one in a location who matches what a fixer is looking for (for instance, a search for a very niche instrument) then the system will suggest other musos outside that area.

The fixer creates a gig at a certain location and searches for a skill. If your skill and one of your preferred areas match, you will be listed in their search results.

The search results are ordered by distance. Those musos nearest the location of the gig will be higher up the results list.

Fixers will be able to see your profile card, including your name, skills and introductory sentence. They will also be able to see your biog and any publicity photos. They will not be able to see your chosen areas or contact details.

Your contact details, address and preferred areas will remain private. This data is not needed for fixers to offer you a gig. Fixers will only see your phone number when you respond to their gig offer.

No. Fixers will only see your phone number when you respond to them yourself by text or call, after they have offered a gig to you.

Map a Muso will send you a text message if a fixer wants to offer you a gig. You will see details of the gig by clicking the link in the message.

If you are on a FORTE membership, the gig details contain the fixer’s phone number.

Yes. You need to reply directly to the fixer, by phone or text, to accept or decline a gig.

You need to confirm the final details for the gig directly with the fixer. The gig is not confirmed until you have connected directly.

Yes, please reply to the fixer to decline the gig offer. Every gig offer is a chance to add someone to your network of contacts, even if you can’t accept on this occasion.

Yes, they will see the time that you viewed the gig details.

If you are on a FORTE membership, you can read the fixer’s profile along with the details of the gig offer.

No. The gig is confirmed only when you and the fixer contact one another directly to do so.
